When I first began my walk with God, I honestly thought I could handle most things on my own.

If it was a small decision, I did not think I needed to pray about it.

I would simply make the decision and move on.

Sometimes everything worked out just fine.

Other times, I found myself saying, “I wish I had done that differently.”

Looking back, I can see that I was depending more on myself than I was depending on God.

I thought I knew what I was doing.

After all, they were only small decisions.

I did not think they really mattered.

But little by little, God began showing me something.

The small decisions we make today often lead to the bigger moments tomorrow.

That changed the way I looked at my everyday life.

Now, I try to bring everything to God.

Not because I cannot decide on my own.

But because I know His wisdom is greater than mine.

If I have the opportunity to ask the One who knows the beginning from the end, why wouldn’t I?

Small Decisions Can Have Big Results

Have you ever made what seemed like a small decision that ended up changing everything?

Maybe it was accepting a job.

Starting a friendship.

Turning down an opportunity.

Choosing to wait instead of rushing.

At the time, it probably did not seem like a life-changing moment.

But later you realized how important that decision really was.

That is why I no longer believe there is such a thing as an unimportant decision.

Some choices may seem small today, but they can shape our future in ways we never expected.

God sees every step before we take it.

He already knows where each path leads.

That is why I want His direction.

Not only when I am making a major decision.

But also in the little ones.

Learning to Pause Before I Decide

One of the biggest changes God has made in my life is teaching me to slow down.

I used to make quick decisions.

If something sounded good, I would move forward.

If I thought it made sense, I would do it.

Now, I have learned to pause.

Before saying yes.

Before saying no.

Before making plans.

Before committing my time.

Before spending money.

Before reacting.

I ask myself one simple question.

“God, what do You want me to do?”

That small prayer has saved me from making decisions I probably would have regretted.

Sometimes the answer comes quickly.

Other times, I have to wait.

Waiting has taught me something valuable.

Not every answer has to come immediately.

Sometimes God is teaching us patience while He prepares the answer.

Trusting God Means Letting Go of Control

If I am honest, letting go of control was not easy.

I liked knowing what was happening.

I liked making my own plans.

I liked feeling like I had everything figured out.

Then life reminded me that I really did not.

Some decisions worked out.

Others did not.

Some doors opened.

Others closed.

There were moments when I wondered why things happened the way they did.

Instead of becoming frustrated, God began teaching me to trust Him.

Not because I understood everything.

But because He understands everything.

That made all the difference.

Proverbs 3:5–6 (KJV)

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

Those verses have become a reminder for me.

Notice it does not say to trust Him only with the big decisions.

It says, “In all thy ways acknowledge him.”

That means every part of life.

Every choice.

Every conversation.

Every opportunity.

Every step.

God’s “No” Is Still an Answer

One lesson I have had to learn is that God’s answer is not always yes.

There have been things I wanted so badly.

I prayed.

I waited.

I hoped.

Then the answer was no.

At first, I did not understand.

I wondered why.

I questioned what I had done wrong.

As time passed, I realized something.

God was protecting me.

Sometimes we become disappointed because we only see what we wanted.

God sees what would have happened if He had allowed it.

He sees what we cannot see.

Looking back, there are doors I am thankful He never opened.

At the time, I was disappointed.

Today, I am grateful.

That is another reason I trust Him.

Even when His answer is no.

His “no” is never meant to harm us.

It is meant to protect us or prepare us for something better.

God Uses People to Help Us

One thing I truly appreciate is that God does not always answer us the same way.

Sometimes He speaks through His Word.

Sometimes through prayer.

Sometimes through the peace of the Holy Spirit.

Sometimes He sends the right person at exactly the right time.

I can honestly say I am thankful for the people God has placed in my life.

There have been moments when I needed wisdom, and God sent someone who gave me godly advice.

Not advice based on feelings.

Not advice based on what was popular.

But advice that pointed me back to God.

Those people are gifts.

I am grateful for every person God has used to help me make wise decisions.

That reminds me that trusting God also means being willing to listen when He sends someone to help us.

Peace Is One of God’s Greatest Gifts

When I begin praying about a decision, I pay attention to something.

Peace.

Not excitement.

Not pressure.

Not fear.

Peace.

There have been times when everything looked good on the outside, but I had no peace.

There have also been situations that looked uncertain, yet I had complete peace because I knew God was leading me.

I have learned not to ignore that.

God’s peace has become one of the ways He helps me know I am walking in the right direction.

Colossians 3:15 (KJV)

“And let the peace of God rule in your hearts…”

That peace is worth more than rushing into something simply because I want it.

I would rather wait with peace than hurry with regret.

Trust Begins One Decision at a Time

Trusting God does not happen overnight.

It grows.

Every time we ask Him for direction…

Every time we choose obedience…

Every time we wait instead of rushing…

Our trust becomes stronger.

Looking back, I can see how God has guided me through so many small decisions that eventually led to bigger blessings.

Those moments remind me that He has been faithful before.

And because He has been faithful before, I know I can trust Him again.

We Do Not Have to Understand Everything

One thing that has helped me grow in my faith is accepting that I will not always understand what God is doing.

There have been times when I prayed for something, and the answer did not come when I expected.

There were opportunities I thought were perfect for me, but God closed the door.

At first, I did not understand.

I wanted answers.

I wanted things to make sense.

But God gently reminded me that my job is not to understand everything.

My job is to trust Him.

That can be difficult because we like knowing what is going to happen next.

We like having a plan.

We like feeling in control.

Faith does not always work that way.

Sometimes God asks us to take one step without showing us the next ten.

That is where trust begins.

I have learned that every time I trusted God, even when I did not understand, He proved Himself faithful.

His timing was better than mine.

His plan was better than mine.

His way was better than mine.

Everyday Decisions Matter to God

Sometimes we think God only cares about the major events in our lives.

Who we marry.

Where we work.

Where we live.

Those decisions certainly matter.

But I also believe He cares about the everyday choices we often overlook.

He cares about how we speak to people.

How we spend our time.

How we manage our money.

How we respond when someone hurts us.

How we use the gifts He has given us.

Those daily decisions shape the kind of person we become.

One choice may not seem like much.

But over time, those choices become habits.

Those habits become our character.

That is why I want God involved in my everyday life.

Not just on Sundays.

Not just when I have a crisis.

Every single day.

Depending on Myself Never Brought Me Peace

I can honestly say there was a time when I believed I could figure everything out on my own.

If something made sense to me, I moved forward.

If I thought it was a good idea, I went with it.

Sometimes everything worked out.

Other times, I created problems that could have been avoided if I had simply stopped to pray first.

That experience taught me an important lesson.

Depending on myself may give me confidence for a moment.

Depending on God gives me peace.

There is a difference.

Confidence based only on my own understanding can disappear when things change.

The peace that comes from following God stays with me, even when life does not go according to my plans.

That peace reminds me that He is still in control.

Faith Is Built One Step at a Time

When people talk about trusting God, they often think about the biggest moments in life.

But I have discovered that faith usually grows through ordinary moments.

Every time I stop and pray before making a decision…

Every time I choose patience instead of rushing…

Every time I obey God even when it is not easy…

My faith becomes a little stronger.

God is teaching me that trust is built one decision at a time.

One prayer at a time.

One act of obedience at a time.

The more I trust Him, the easier it becomes to recognize His faithfulness.

Then, when a bigger decision comes, I already know the One who has been guiding me all along.

Don’t Be Afraid to Wait

Waiting has never been my favorite thing.

Like many people, I enjoy seeing answers quickly.

But waiting has become one of God’s greatest classrooms in my life.

While I am waiting, He teaches me patience.

While I am waiting, He strengthens my faith.

While I am waiting, He reminds me that He is working even when I cannot see it.

There have been times when I wanted an immediate answer.

Instead, God asked me to wait.

Looking back, I can see that the waiting protected me.

It gave me time to grow.

It gave God time to prepare circumstances that I knew nothing about.

Now, when I have to wait, I try not to become discouraged.

I remind myself that waiting with God is never wasted.

He is always doing something, even when it feels quiet.

You Can Trust God With Every Part of Your Life

I want to encourage you today.

Do not think your decision is too small for God.

Talk to Him about it.

Pray before you decide.

Ask Him for wisdom.

Listen for His direction.

Pay attention to the peace He gives you.

If His answer is yes, move forward with confidence.

If His answer is no, trust that He is protecting you.

If His answer is wait, believe that His timing is better than yours.

God is interested in every part of your life because He loves you.

Nothing is too small for Him.

Nothing is too difficult for Him.

Nothing catches Him by surprise.

That gives me confidence every day.

Final Thoughts

Trusting God in small, daily decisions has completely changed the way I live.

I no longer feel like I have to figure everything out by myself.

I no longer believe I always know what is best.

Instead, I have learned to stop, pray, and ask God for His direction.

I can honestly say that has brought more peace into my life than trying to do everything on my own.

Does that mean every answer comes immediately?

No.

Does it mean every prayer is answered the way I hoped?

No.

But it does mean I know the One who is leading me.

And that makes all the difference.

I would rather walk slowly with God than run ahead without Him.

I would rather wait for His direction than rush into something I will later regret.

I would rather trust His wisdom than depend only on my own understanding.

If I have learned anything, it is this:

God can be trusted.

Not only with the biggest moments of life.

But with the smallest ones too.

The next time you have a decision to make, no matter how small it may seem, take a moment to pray first.

Invite God into it.

Allow Him to guide your steps.

You may be surprised how one small decision, placed in God’s hands, can lead to something far greater than you ever imagined.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for caring about every part of my life, even the small decisions I sometimes overlook. Forgive me for the times I depended on my own understanding instead of seeking Your wisdom first.

Teach me to trust You more each day. Help me slow down, pray before I decide, and listen carefully for Your direction. Give me peace when You say yes, patience when You say wait, and trust when Your answer is no.

Thank You for protecting me from paths that were not meant for me and for leading me in ways that bring glory to You. Continue shaping my heart so that trusting You becomes my first response instead of my last option.
