It’s okay to not be okay sometimes. Life can become overwhelming, but you don’t have to stay there. Learn how trusting God, talking to someone you trust, and taking one step at a time can help you find peace and hope again.
It’s Okay to Not Be Okay
I want you to know today is this:
It’s okay to not be okay.
Sometimes we put so much pressure on ourselves to act like everything is fine.
We smile.
We keep going.
We tell everyone we are okay.
But deep down, we know we are struggling.
I know because I have been there.
There have been moments when I was not okay.
Moments when my mind was full.
Moments when life felt overwhelming.
Moments when I needed to step back and simply breathe.
I have learned that there is nothing wrong with admitting that you are having a hard day.
There is nothing wrong with saying,
“I’m struggling.”
“There is a lot on my mind.”
“I need a moment.”
Being honest does not mean your faith is weak.
It simply means you are human.
God never expected us to pretend.
He wants us to come to Him exactly as we are.
We All Have Those Days
I believe every one of us has days when we are not at our best.
Some days we wake up feeling encouraged.
Other days, we feel tired before the day even begins.
Some days everything seems to go wrong.
Other days, we carry burdens that nobody else knows about.
That is part of life.
Being a Christian does not mean we never have difficult days.
It means we know where to go when those days come.
I have had moments when I needed to stop everything I was doing.
Not because I wanted to quit.
But because I needed time to think.
Time to pray.
Time to ask God what He was trying to show me.
Sometimes slowing down is exactly what we need.
I Don’t Want to Stay There
One thing I have learned about myself is this:
I may not be okay today.
But I do not want to stay there.
I never want to make my pain my permanent address.
I never want to allow discouragement to become my identity.
Yes, I may need time to process what is happening.
Yes, I may need to cry.
Yes, I may need to step away for a little while.
But I also know that God did not create me to live in hopelessness.
He created me to walk with hope.
That hope is found in Him.
So when I am not okay, I remind myself that this season will not last forever.
God is still working.
He is still faithful.
He is still with me.
Sometimes We Need to Talk to Someone
One thing I have learned is that we are not meant to carry everything alone.
Sometimes we need someone we trust.
Someone who will listen.
Someone who will pray with us.
Someone who will encourage us.
There have been times when someone asked me,
“Are you okay?”
And I answered,
“Yes.”
But they knew I was not.
Why?
Because they knew me.
They could hear it in my voice.
They could see it on my face.
They knew something was different.
Those are the kinds of people I thank God for.
The people who truly know you.
The people who can tell when something is wrong, even when you are trying to hide it.
If God has placed someone like that in your life, do not be afraid to talk to them.
Sometimes healing begins with one honest conversation.
๐ Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (KJV)
“Two are better than one… For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow.”
God often uses people to help lift us when we feel weak.
God Can Handle Our Honest Feelings
One thing that brings me comfort is knowing that God is not afraid of my honesty.
He already knows how I feel.
He knows when I am discouraged.
He knows when I am tired.
He knows when I have questions.
So instead of pretending everything is okay, I have learned to bring everything to Him.
I tell Him exactly what is on my heart.
I pray.
I cry if I need to.
I listen.
I wait.
And somehow, every time, He gives me the peace I need.
Not always immediately.
But He always comes through.
That is one thing I know for sure.
God always comes through.
Maybe not the way I expected.
Maybe not when I expected.
But He is always faithful.
Don’t Sit in Your Pain
I never want to do is sit in my pain.
I do not want to dwell there.
I do not want to let disappointment become my home.
I do not want fear to control my life.
Instead, I want to ask myself,
“What can I learn from this?”
“What is God trying to teach me?”
“How can I move forward?”
That does not mean I ignore my feelings.
It means I refuse to let them control my future.
Feel your emotions.
Acknowledge them.
Give them to God.
Then allow Him to help you move forward one step at a time.
Let’s Make This Practical
If you are not okay today, here are a few things that have helped me.
1. Be Honest With God
Tell Him exactly how you feel.
He already knows.
There is nothing you can say that will surprise Him.
2. Talk to Someone You Trust
Do not keep everything bottled up.
God may use someone to encourage you.
3. Take a Step Back
Sometimes we need to slow down.
Clear our minds.
Pray.
Rest.
Think.
Give ourselves room to breathe.
4. Stay in God’s Word
His promises remind us that difficult seasons do not last forever.
His truth is stronger than our emotions.
5. Remember That Tomorrow Is a New Day
Today may be difficult.
Tomorrow may look different.
Keep trusting God.
Keep moving forward.
Your Feelings Are Real, But They Are Not the Final Word
I remind myself of this:
My feelings are real.
But they are not always the truth.
There are days when I feel discouraged.
There are days when I feel overwhelmed.
But God’s promises never change.
His love never changes.
His faithfulness never changes.
That gives me hope.
Because I know I do not have to stay where I am emotionally.
God can lift me.
God Is Working Even When You Don’t Feel Your Best
I think this is something many of us need to remember.
God does not stop working just because we are having a difficult day.
He is still moving.
He is still guiding.
He is still strengthening us.
He is still answering prayers.
Sometimes we cannot see it because our emotions are so heavy.
But His faithfulness never depends on how we feel.
That encourages me.
Because even on my worst days, God is still at work.
There Is Hope on the Other Side
I can honestly say that every difficult season has taught me something.
Some seasons taught me patience.
Some taught me trust.
Some taught me to slow down.
Some taught me to lean on God more than I ever had before.
I would not have chosen those seasons.
But I can see how God used them to help me grow.
That gives me confidence that whatever I am facing today will not last forever.
There is hope on the other side.
Final Thought: You Will Be Okay
If there is one thing I hope you take away from this, it is this:
It is okay to not be okay.
There will be days when life feels heavy.
There will be moments when you feel overwhelmed.
There will be times when you need to step back and breathe.
That is okay.
Just do not stay there.
Talk to God.
Talk to someone you trust.
Pray.
Rest.
Allow yourself time to heal.
Then get back up.
Keep trusting.
Keep believing.
Keep moving forward.
Because I truly believe this:
God always comes through.
He has done it before.
He is doing it now.
And He will do it again.
So if today you are not okay, I want you to know that you are not alone.
God is with you.
He sees you.
He loves you.
And with His help, you will make it through.
One day you will look back and realize that what felt impossible became another testimony of God’s faithfulness.

Reflection Questions
- Have I been pretending everything is okay instead of bringing my struggles to God?
- Is there someone I trust that I need to talk to?
- Am I allowing myself time to heal, or am I trying to carry everything alone?
- What has God taught me through previous difficult seasons?
- What is one step I can take today to move forward in faith instead of staying discouraged?
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for loving me even on the days when I am not okay. Thank you for never expecting me to pretend with you and for always welcoming me with open arms.
Help me bring every burden, every fear, and every emotion to You instead of carrying them alone. Give me the courage to reach out to someone I trust when I need encouragement and remind me that You often work through the people You place in my life.
Strengthen my heart when I feel weak, renew my hope when I feel discouraged, and help me remember that this difficult season will not last forever. Thank You for always coming through, even when I cannot see how You are working.
Help me keep moving forward, trusting that Your plans are good and that You will never leave me or forsake me.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
With Love,
Ty ๐ค
