Pain is something none of us chooses. It can come suddenly or slowly, quietly or loudly—but when it arrives, it changes us. Pain may come through heartbreak, loss, disappointment, rejection, or unanswered prayers. Even though we don’t choose pain, I’ve learned that God can still use it. Even in the middle of painful seasons, God is present.
There have been moments in my life when pain felt overwhelming. I didn’t understand why I was going through what I was facing, and I questioned how anything good could come from it. But looking back, I can see that God was with me every step of the way. He brought healing, understanding, and purpose through the pain.
God Is Close in Painful Seasons
One of the most comforting things I’ve learned is that God does not distance Himself from us when we are hurting—He draws closer. When our hearts are broken and our emotions feel heavy, God is near.
“The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart.”
— Psalm 34:18 (KJV)
God is not far away when we are in pain. He sees every tear, hears every silent prayer, and understands every emotion we can’t put into words.
Pain Is Not Wasted in God’s Hands
It may not feel like it in the moment, but nothing we go through is wasted in God’s hands. Pain has a way of shaping us, strengthening our faith, and drawing us closer to Him. What hurts today may be the very thing God uses to prepare us for what’s ahead.
I’ve learned that pain often teaches lessons comfort never could. It teaches us to rely on God instead of ourselves. It teaches us compassion for others. It teaches us patience, humility, and trust.
Healing Takes Time
Healing doesn’t happen overnight. Sometimes we want God to fix everything immediately, but healing is often a process. God heals in layers. He knows exactly what we need and when we need it.
There were times when I wanted answers more than healing, but God knew healing had to come first. As time passed, He slowly restored my heart and helped me understand that healing is just as important as understanding.
“He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.”
— Psalm 147:3 (KJV)
Finding Purpose Through Pain
Purpose doesn’t always come immediately. Sometimes we don’t see it until much later. But God uses pain to grow us and prepare us for something greater. What you’ve survived may one day help someone else.
I believe that the pain we endure becomes part of our testimony. God doesn’t waste experiences—He redeems them. He takes what was meant to harm us and uses it to bring hope and healing to others.
Trusting God With Your Healing
Trusting God in painful seasons is not easy. It requires faith when feelings say otherwise. It means believing that God is still good even when life feels unfair.
I’ve learned that trusting God with healing means being honest with Him. It means bringing Him your brokenness and allowing Him to work in His time. God doesn’t rush healing, but He never abandons us in the process.
You Are Not Alone
If you are carrying pain right now, I want you to know that you are not alone. God sees you. He is with you, even when it feels like no one else understands. Your pain matters to Him.
Hold on. Healing is coming. Purpose is forming. God is working, even when you can’t see it.
Reflection Questions
- What pain are you carrying right now?
- How has God shown up for you in the past?
- What would it look like to trust Him with your healing?
Closing Prayer
Lord,
Thank You for being close to me in painful seasons. Heal my heart, strengthen my faith, and help me trust Your purpose even when I don’t understand. Remind me that nothing I go through is wasted in Your hands. In Jesus’ name, Amen
Ty
