Meta Description

Everything in life is built on a foundation. Discover why building your life on Jesus Christ is the only foundation that will stand when storms, trials, and challenges come your way.

If the Foundation Is Broken, What Can Stand?

One thing I have learned is that everything starts with the foundation.

Whether you are building a house, starting a business, raising a family, or growing in your relationship with God, the foundation matters.

Without a strong foundation, nothing else can stand.

I have often thought about that in my own life.

If my relationship with God is not where it needs to be, then everything else will eventually be affected.

If my foundation begins to crack, my peace will begin to crack.

My joy will begin to crack.

My faith will become weaker.

That is why I believe we have to protect our foundation.

And for me, that foundation is Jesus Christ.

No matter what happens around me, I want my life to be built on Him.

Everything Begins With God

Sometimes we spend so much time trying to fix the outside of our lives that we forget to work on the inside.

We want better relationships.

Better finances.

Better health.

Better opportunities.

Those things are important.

But before any of those things, we need God.

He is the One who holds everything together.

When He is at the center of our lives, everything else has a stronger foundation.

That does not mean life becomes easy.

It means we have Someone to stand on when life becomes difficult.

A Strong Foundation Is Built Over Time

I have realized that foundations are not built overnight.

It takes time.

It takes work.

It takes consistency.

The same is true with our faith.

We do not become spiritually strong in one day.

We grow little by little.

Every prayer.

Every time we read God’s Word.

Every act of obedience.

Every lesson.

Every season.

God is strengthening our foundation.

Sometimes we do not even realize He is doing it until a storm comes.

Then we discover that what He built in us is strong enough to keep us standing.

Storms Reveal the Foundation

One thing storms have taught me is that they reveal what we are standing on.

When everything is going well, almost anyone can say they trust God.

But what happens when life changes?

What happens when prayers are not answered right away?

What happens when disappointment comes?

What happens when people leave?

What happens when money gets tight?

What happens when sickness comes?

Those moments reveal our foundation.

If our faith is built only on feelings, it will not last.

If our faith is built only on circumstances, it will fall apart.

But if our faith is built on Christ, we can still stand even when life becomes difficult.

๐Ÿ“– Matthew 7:24-25 (KJV)

“Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them… it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.”

Jesus never said storms would not come.

He said the house built on the Rock would still stand.

We Cannot Build on Temporary Things

This world offers many things that appear to be strong foundations.

Money.

Success.

Popularity.

Titles.

Possessions.

Recognition.

None of those things are wrong by themselves.

But none of them were designed to replace God.

Money can come and go.

Jobs can change.

People can disappoint us.

Opportunities may come and leave.

But God never changes.

That is why I choose to build my life on Him instead of things that can disappear tomorrow.

Foundations Affect Every Area of Our Lives

Our foundation affects more than just our faith.

It affects our homes.

Our marriages.

Our friendships.

Our decisions.

Our attitudes.

Our words.

Our priorities.

If God is truly our foundation, people should see it in the way we live.

Not just on Sunday.

But every day.

I want people to see Christ in me wherever I go.

Not because I am perfect.

But because I am building my life on the One who is.

Let’s Make This Practical

How can we strengthen our foundation?

1. Spend Time With God Every Day

Strong relationships require time.

Spend time praying.

Reading His Word.

Listening for His voice.

2. Obey What God Says

It is not enough to hear God’s Word.

We must also live it.

Obedience strengthens our foundation.

3. Stay Connected to Other Believers

We were never meant to walk this journey alone.

God often strengthens us through other believers.

4. Keep Learning

Never stop growing spiritually.

There is always something new God wants to teach us.

5. Trust God During Difficult Seasons

Storms are not meant to destroy us.

Many times they strengthen our faith and deepen our dependence on God.

Cracks Need Immediate Attention

One thing I know about a house is that small cracks should never be ignored.

If they are left alone, they usually become bigger.

The same is true spiritually.

Bitterness.

Unforgiveness.

Pride.

Jealousy.

Fear.

Unconfessed sin.

Those things may begin as small cracks.

But if we ignore them, they can weaken our foundation.

That is why I ask God to search my heart often.

If there is something that does not belong there, I want Him to show me.

I would rather allow Him to repair the cracks now than wait until greater damage is done.

God Is Still Strengthening My Foundation

I can honestly say that God is still working on me.

Every lesson.

Every trial.

Every answered prayer.

Every waiting season.

Every blessing.

Every correction.

He is strengthening my foundation.

Sometimes I do not understand why He allows certain things.

But later I realized he was preparing me for something greater.

Looking back, I can see that every season has helped make my faith stronger.

And for that, I am thankful.

The Foundation Determines What Can Stand

I have asked myself this question many times.

If the foundation is broken…

What can really stand?

A house cannot stand very long on a weak foundation.

Neither can our lives.

That is why I never want to neglect my relationship with God.

Everything else depends on it.

The stronger my relationship with Him becomes, the stronger I become.

Not because of my own strength.

But because I am standing on His.

๐Ÿ“– Psalm 11:3 (KJV)

“If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?”

That verse reminds me of how important our foundation truly is.

Jesus Is the Only Foundation That Lasts

One thing I know without a doubt is that Jesus is the only foundation that will never fail.

People may leave.

Circumstances may change.

Life may become difficult.

But Jesus remains the same.

He is faithful.

He is trustworthy.

He is steady.

He is my Rock.

When everything else around me feels uncertain, I know I can stand on Him.

That gives me peace.

That gives me confidence.

That gives me hope.

Final Thought: Build Your Life on the Rock

If there is one thing I hope you take away from this, it is this:

Protect your foundation.

Spend time with God.

Read His Word.

Pray.

Trust Him.

Obey Him.

Do not wait until life begins to fall apart before you start strengthening your relationship with Him.

Build your foundation now.

Because storms will come.

Challenges will come.

Disappointments will come.

But when your life is built on Jesus Christ, those things do not have the final say.

I know I am still growing.

I know God is still shaping me.

I know there is still work for Him to do in my life.

But I also know this:

As long as my foundation is Jesus Christ, I can continue standing.

Not because I am strong.

But because the One I stand on never fails.

“If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?”

๐Ÿ“– 1 Corinthians 3:11 (KJV)

Reflection Questions

  • What is my life truly built upon?
  • Have I been spending intentional time strengthening my relationship with God?
  • Are there any cracks in my spiritual foundation that I need to allow God to repair?
  • When storms come, where do I turn first?
  • What can I do this week to build a stronger foundation in Christ?

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for being the solid foundation I can always stand on. When life feels uncertain, remind me that You never change. Help me build every area of my life on Your truth instead of the temporary things of this world.

Search my heart and reveal any cracks that need Your healing. Strengthen my faith through every season, and teach me to trust You even when I do not understand what You are doing.

Help me stay committed to prayer, reading Your Word, and walking in obedience so that my foundation continues to grow stronger each day.

Thank you for being my Rock, my strength, and my refuge. No matter what storms come my way, I know I can stand because I am standing on You.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

With Love,
