Every business and ministry starts somewhere. Learn how to trust God with growth, remain faithful in your calling, and allow Him to guide the vision He has placed in your heart.
Growth in Business and Ministry
One thing I have learned is that growth does not happen overnight.
Whether it is a business, a ministry, a relationship, or a dream God has placed in your heart, growth takes time.
Many of us have something we want to see grow.
Maybe it is a business.
Maybe it is a ministry.
Maybe it is a nonprofit.
Maybe it is a calling God has given us.
Whatever it is, we want to see it succeed.
We want to see it reach people.
We want to see it make a difference.
And honestly, there is nothing wrong with that.
I know that is how I feel about Encouraged by Faith.
This is my business.
This is my ministry.
And I want it to grow.
Not so people can know my name.
Not so I can receive all the attention.
But I want people to be encouraged.
I want people to know that God loves them.
I want people to have a place to come when they feel discouraged, overwhelmed, or forgotten.
I want people to find hope.
And I believe God can use this platform to do exactly that.
God Gave Me This Vision
One thing I always remind myself is that this was not my idea.
God gave me this vision.
He placed it on my heart.
He gave me the desire to write.
He gave me the desire to encourage others.
He gave me the desire to share His Word.
Because of that, I know He has a purpose for it.
Now, does that mean everything happens immediately?
No.
Does that mean growth comes overnight?
No.
But it does mean I can trust Him with the process.
When God gives us something, He also knows how to grow it.
Our job is to be faithful.
His job is to provide the increase.
๐ 1 Corinthians 3:7 (KJV)
“So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.”
That scripture reminds me that growth ultimately comes from God.
We plant.
We water.
We work.
But God brings the increase.
We Live in a World That Wants Immediate Results
One challenge many people face is impatience.
We want results now.
We want success now.
We want growth now.
We want everything to happen immediately.
And when it does not happen quickly, we become discouraged.
We start wondering:
- Is this working?
- Did I hear God correctly?
- Am I wasting my time?
I have had those thoughts before.
Maybe you have too.
But God often works differently than we expect.
He is not in a hurry.
He develops us while He develops the vision.
Sometimes He is preparing the ministry.
Sometimes He is preparing the business.
And sometimes He is preparing us.
Faithfulness Matters More Than Numbers
One thing God has been teaching me is not to focus only on numbers.
It is easy to get caught up in:
- Followers
- Subscribers
- Website traffic
- Sales
- Recognition
Those things are not bad.
But they should never become our main focus.
The real question is:
Am I being faithful?
Am I doing what God asked me to do?
Am I showing up consistently?
Am I serving others well?
Because God is more concerned about faithfulness than popularity.
Many people want a large platform.
But they are not faithful to the small one God has already given them.
Growth begins with stewardship.
Stop Comparing Your Journey to Someone Else’s
This is something many of us struggle with.
We see someone else’s business growing.
We see someone else’s ministry thriving.
We see doors opening for them.
And we start wondering:
“Why is it happening for them and not me?”
I have had moments like that.
Not because I wanted what someone else had.
But I was wondering when my opportunity would come.
Then God reminded me of something important.
Everyone’s journey is different.
Everyone’s assignment is different.
Everyone’s timing is different.
What God is doing for someone else has nothing to do with what He is doing for me.
Comparison steals joy.
Comparison creates frustration.
Comparison takes our eyes off our own assignment.
Instead of comparing, we need to stay focused on what God has called us to do.
Small Beginnings Still Matter
Many successful businesses and ministries started small.
Very small.
They started with one person saying yes to God.
One idea.
One step of faith.
One act of obedience.
The problem is that many people despise small beginnings.
They want the finished product immediately.
But God often starts small.
๐ Zechariah 4:10 (KJV)
“For who hath despised the day of small things?”
Never underestimate what God can do with something small.
A small blog.
A small ministry.
A small business.
A small act of obedience.
God can take something small and turn it into something much bigger than we ever imagined.
God Gives Us Dreams for a Reason
There is something else I would like to start one day.
Right now, I am still writing things down.
I am still praying about it.
I am still seeking God’s direction.
And honestly, I am okay with that.
Because I know when the time is right, God will make it happen.
I do not have to force it.
I do not have to rush it.
I do not have to stress over it.
I simply have to trust Him.
Sometimes we think every idea has to happen immediately.
But God may be saying:
“Not yet.”
Not because the vision is wrong.
But because the timing is not right.
There is wisdom in waiting on God.
Let’s Make This Practical
If you are building a business or ministry, here are a few practical things that can help.
1. Stay Consistent
Keep showing up.
Even when growth seems slow.
Consistency matters.
2. Pray About Everything
Bring your ideas to God.
Ask Him for wisdom.
Ask Him for direction.
Ask Him for favor.
3. Serve People Well
Focus on helping people.
When you genuinely care about others, it shows.
4. Keep Learning
Growth requires learning.
Read.
Study.
Improve your skills.
Allow God to teach you.
5. Trust God’s Timing
Not everything will happen immediately.
Be patient.
God knows exactly what He is doing.
Make Sure God Gets the Glory
One thing I never want to forget is where my help comes from.
If God blesses this blog.
If God allows it to reach people around the world.
If God opens doors.
If God provides opportunities.
Then He deserves the glory.
Not me.
Not anyone else.
God.
Because without Him, none of this would be possible.
It is easy for people to become prideful when things start growing.
But we must always remember Who made it possible.
๐ Psalm 115:1 (KJV)
“Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory…”
Everything we do should point people back to Him.
Your Calling Matters
I want to encourage anyone who is building something right now.
Do not give up.
Whether it is:
- A business
- A ministry
- A nonprofit
- A community outreach
- A blog
- A dream God placed in your heart
Keep going.
Keep trusting.
Keep serving.
Keep believing.
God gave you that assignment for a reason.
And if He gave it to you, He will help you carry it.
Final Thought: Walk Into What God Has Given You
We all have businesses and ministries we want to see grow.
Some are already started.
Some are still dreams.
Some are still written down in notebooks.
Some are still being prayed over.
Whatever stage you are in, walk into what God has given you.
Do your best.
Stay faithful.
Serve people.
Trust God.
And make sure He gets all the glory.
Because when God is involved, growth is never just about numbers.
It is about impact.
It is about lives being changed.
It is about people finding hope.
And that is exactly what ministry and business should be about.
If God gave you the vision, trust Him with the outcome.

Reflection Questions
- What business or ministry has God placed on my heart?
- Am I focusing more on growth or faithfulness?
- Have I been comparing my journey to someone else’s?
- What step of obedience is God asking me to take today?
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the visions, dreams, businesses, and ministries You place in our hearts. Help us remain faithful even when growth seems slow. Teach us to trust Your timing and not compare our journey to others.
Give us wisdom, direction, and strength as we serve the people You have called us to reach. Help us stay focused on our assignment and always remember that all growth comes from You.
May everything we build bring glory to Your name and point others toward Your love and truth.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
With Love,
Ty ๐ค
