Finding Peace in Quiet Moments With God

Still waters representing trust and peace in God

Finding peace in quiet moments with God is an incredibly rewarding experience. I enjoy spending quiet time with Him, not only when I’m feeling down, but also when I’m happy. There’s just something about the peace that comes over me—it makes me feel like everything around me fades away.

Sometimes when I’m trying to figure something out, like working on my blog website and something just won’t work, I’ll close my laptop, sit back in my chair, and close my eyes. I don’t rush. I just wait until that peace comes over me and I hear from God about what I need to do next. Every time, He gives me clarity.

This may seem strange to some people, but I used to enjoy going to the cemetery to visit my nana’s and uncle’s graves. When I was there, it felt like I couldn’t hear the cars passing by or the birds around me. All I could hear was the wind blowing, and I could feel the sun shining on me. In those moments, it felt like it was just me and God—no distractions, no noise, no rush. Just His presence.

That feeling was so peaceful and comforting. I don’t know if any of you have ever felt that way when you’ve gone there, but I did. It reminded me how God meets us in stillness, when we slow down long enough to listen.

I can truly say I enjoy my quiet time with God and the peace that He gives me. It’s a peace that calms my spirit, clears my mind, and reminds me that He is always near.

Scripture (KJV)

“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10

Closing Reflection

In a world that is always loud and moving fast, God invites us to be still. In those quiet moments, He restores our hearts, strengthens our faith, and reminds us that we are never alone.

Reflection Questions

  1. When was the last time you truly sat still and spent quiet time with God without distractions?
  2. Do you seek God’s presence only in difficult moments, or do you also invite Him into your joyful seasons?
  3. What places or moments help you feel closest to God and bring you peace?
  4. How do you respond when God brings stillness instead of immediate answers?
  5. What is one way you can intentionally create quiet time with God this week?

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the gift of Your peace. Thank You for meeting me in quiet moments and reminding me that You are always near. Help me to slow down, be still, and listen for Your voice—whether I am seeking answers, feeling overwhelmed, or simply resting in Your presence. Teach me to trust You in the silence and to find comfort knowing that You are in control. May Your peace guard my heart and mind, and may I carry it with me throughout each day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
