Holding On to God’s Light in Uncertain Times
Meta Description:
A faith-filled devotional about holding on to hope in difficult times, trusting God’s promises, and finding light, peace, and strength even when life feels overwhelming.
Hope That Shines Bright
There is so much happening in the world today that sometimes it feels like life is moving faster than we can keep up.
You can wake up feeling fine, and before the day even really starts, something hits your spirit—something you saw, something you heard, something you’re dealing with—and it just sits on you.
Not always heavy enough to break you… but enough to weigh on you.
And if we’re not careful, we can carry that all day.
But even in the middle of everything going on, I’ve learned something that keeps me grounded:
Hope still shines.
It doesn’t matter how dark things look around you—God knows how to place light right where you need it.
Hope Comes From God
Hope is not something we have to force.
It’s not something we have to figure out.
It comes from God.
There have been moments when I didn’t even feel strong, but somehow I still had this quiet peace in me. I couldn’t explain it, but I knew it wasn’t coming from me.
That was God.
That was Him reminding me:
“I’m still here.”
Even when you don’t see movement…
Even when you don’t have answers…
Even when things feel unclear…
God is still working.
Romans 15:13 (KJV) says:
“Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing…”
That tells me right there—He is the source of hope.
Not people.
Not situations.
Not outcomes.
God.
When Life Feels Uncertain
I’ve had moments where I didn’t know what was next.
Moments where I had plans in my mind… but things didn’t go the way I thought they would.
And that can be frustrating.
Because we like to know what’s coming.
We like to feel prepared.
But life doesn’t always work like that.
And in those uncertain moments, that’s when your faith gets tested the most.
That’s when you have to decide:
Am I going to trust what I see…
Or trust what God said?
Because uncertainty will try to shake you.
But hope will steady you.
Hope Is a Choice
Let’s be real for a moment—hope doesn’t always come naturally.
Some days, you have to choose it.
You have to choose not to sit in negativity.
You have to choose not to let your thoughts run wild.
You have to choose to trust God—even when you don’t feel like it.
Because what you focus on matters.
If you focus on everything going wrong, your mind will stay there.
But when you shift your focus to God, something changes.
It doesn’t mean everything around you changes right away…
But something inside of you does.
God’s Promises Keep Us Grounded
When everything around you feels like it’s shifting, God’s Word keeps you steady.
That’s why I’ve learned to hold on to Scripture.
Because feelings change.
Situations change.
But God’s promises don’t.
Hebrews 10:23 (KJV) says:
“Let us hold fast… without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised.)”
That word faithful stands out to me.
Because even when I don’t understand what God is doing…
I know He is still faithful.
And that gives me something to hold on to.
Hope Shows Up in Small Ways
Sometimes we expect something big.
A big sign.
A big answer.
A big breakthrough.
But a lot of times, hope shows up quietly.
It might be:
A moment where your mind finally feels calm
A word that hits you right when you need it
A reminder that you’re not alone
And you realize…
God is still right there.
We have to slow down enough to notice it.
Gratitude Helps Hope Grow
One thing I’ve learned is this:
If you want your hope to grow, start being thankful.
Even for the small things.
Because when you start thanking God, your focus shifts.
You stop thinking about everything missing…
And you start seeing what’s already there.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 (KJV) says:
“In everything give thanks…”
Not just when it’s easy.
But in everything.
Because gratitude opens your heart.
And when your heart is open, hope has room to grow.
Storms Don’t Last Forever
We all go through storms.
That’s just part of life.
But one thing I remind myself is this:
Storms don’t stay forever.
They pass.
It may not happen as fast as we want…
But it will happen.
And while you’re in it, God is doing something in you.
Building you.
Strengthening you.
Preparing you.
Romans 8:28 (KJV) reminds us:
“All things work together for good…”
Even the parts that don’t feel good.
You Are Not Alone
I think one of the biggest things people feel is loneliness.
Like nobody understands.
Like nobody sees what they’re dealing with.
But God does.
He sees everything.
Every thought.
Every worry.
Every silent prayer.
And even when it feels quiet…
He is still there.
Hope Is Never Wasted
I’ve learned this from my own life:
Hoping in God is never a waste.
Even when it takes time.
Even when it doesn’t happen how you expected.
God always shows up.
And when He does, you realize…
He was working the whole time.
Don’t Let Go of Your Hope
If there’s one thing I want you to take from this, it’s this:
Don’t let go of your hope.
Not because everything is perfect…
But because God is still in control.
You may not see it yet—but something is happening.
You may not feel it yet—but God is moving.
Hold on.
Let Hope Change You
Hope changes how you walk through life.
It gives you the strength to keep going.
It helps you believe again.
It reminds you that your story is not over.
Sometimes it’s just a small whisper:
“You’re going to be okay.”
And that’s enough to keep moving forward.
God Has the Final Say
At the end of the day, no matter what happens—
God has the final say.
Not your situation.
Not your fear.
Not your past.
God.
And because of that, hope will always have a place in your life.
Reflection Questions
What is something you are trusting God for right now?
How can you choose hope even when things feel uncertain?
What reminder has God given you recently to keep going?
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for being the source of my hope. Even when life feels uncertain, remind me that You are still in control. Help me to trust You, to hold on to Your promises, and to keep my focus on You. Strengthen my heart and let Your peace rest on me daily.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Blessings,
Ty 🤍
Encouraged by Faith

My storms don’t last forever-they come to shape me, not to break me. Every trial strengthens my spirit, builds my faith, and remind me that being prepared for something greater.
Hope comes from God was a blessing this morning because I have experienced the start of my day feeling full of God’s joy. Then something came across the news or an email and it felt heavy in my spirit. All I could do was keep speaking God’s Word of His promises and listening to worship songs. It helped me to get focus on God and not the information. The enemy will use negative things to bring about emotions of hopelessness, helplessness, guilt, sadness, etc. But God says to hope in Him, believe in Him, abide in Him, trust Him.
That is what I do and will continue to do as I walk with Him, and He with me.
I love this sis! You can have something weighing on you and you don’t even know it, you can carry it and don’t even know it. It starts off small and festers into something great! We must always pray for protection seen and unseen.
