Money comes and goes, but God remains faithful. Learn what God has taught me about money, contentment, stewardship, generosity, and trusting Him as my true Provider.
What God Taught Me About Money
One thing God has been teaching me over the years is that money is important, but it should never become more important than Him.
There was a time when I thought that if I just had a little more money, everything would be easier.
I thought more money would solve every problem.
I thought if I could reach a certain number in my bank account, I would never have another worry.
As I have grown in my faith, I have realized that money is a blessing, but it is not my source.
God is.
That does not mean money is not necessary.
We need money to pay our bills.
We need money to provide for our families.
We need money to buy groceries.
We need money to keep a roof over our heads.
Money is a part of life.
But I have learned that money should never take God’s place.
When money becomes our security instead of God, we are trusting the wrong thing.
God has shown me that He is faithful whether I have little or much.
That lesson has changed the way I look at money.
God Is My Provider
One of the greatest lessons I have learned is that my job is not my provider.
My paycheck is not my provider.
My business is not my provider.
God is my Provider.
Yes, He uses jobs.
Yes, He uses businesses.
Yes, He uses opportunities.
But every blessing still comes from Him.
There have been times when I did not know how certain things were going to work out.
There were moments when I wondered how everything would come together.
Then God would make a way.
Not always the way I expected.
Not always when I wanted Him to.
But always at the right time.
Looking back, I can clearly see His hand working in my life.
That reminds me that my confidence should always be in God and not in my bank account.
๐ Philippians 4:19 (KJV)
“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
That verse reminds me that God knows exactly what I need.
He has never stopped being faithful.
Money Is a Tool, Not My Identity
One thing I have also learned is that money does not determine my worth.
The world often measures people by what they own.
How much money do they make?
What kind of house do they live in?
What kind of car do they drive?
What kind of clothes do they wear?
But God does not look at us that way.
Our value does not come from our possessions.
It comes from being His children.
That gives me peace.
Whether I have little or much, my identity never changes.
I belong to God.
And that is worth more than anything money can buy.
Contentment Is a Blessing
If I am being honest, there are still things I would like to have.
There are goals I want to accomplish.
There are dreams I am praying for.
There is nothing wrong with that.
But God has taught me to be content while I am waiting.
Contentment does not mean I stop dreaming.
It means I stop complaining.
It means I stop comparing myself to everyone else.
It means I thank God for what I already have while trusting Him for what is ahead.
I have learned to appreciate the small blessings.
A roof over my head.
Food on the table.
A job.
My family.
My health.
The opportunity to encourage others through this website.
Those are blessings too.
Sometimes we overlook them because we are focused on what we do not have.
Stewardship Matters
God has also taught me how to manage money matters.
It is easy to ask God for more.
But am I taking care of what I already have?
Am I spending wisely?
Am I saving when I can?
Am I helping others when God gives me the opportunity?
Am I using what He has blessed me with in a way that honors Him?
Those are questions I have had to ask myself.
Everything God gives us should be handled with gratitude and wisdom.
Whether it is a little or a lot.
Faithfulness begins with what we have today.
Generosity Changes Our Hearts
One thing I admire is generous people.
Not because they have a lot.
But because they are willing to share.
God has shown me that generosity is not about the amount.
It is about the heart.
Some people have very little and still find ways to bless others.
Others have plenty but struggle to give anything.
Generosity reminds us that everything we have belongs to God.
We are simply managing what He has entrusted to us.
I never want to hold on so tightly to money that I forget to help someone in need.
God has been too good to me for me to become selfish.
Let’s Make This Practical
Here are a few lessons God continues teaching me about money.
1. Trust God More Than Your Bank Account
Money can change overnight.
God never changes.
Put your confidence in Him.
2. Live Within Your Means
Not everything we want has to be purchased immediately.
Sometimes, wisdom says wait.
3. Be Grateful for What You Have
Gratitude changes your perspective.
Do not overlook today’s blessings while waiting for tomorrow’s.
4. Be Generous
Help people when God places it on your heart.
Sometimes your generosity becomes someone’s answered prayer.
5. Remember Where Every Blessing Comes From
Never become so successful that you forget who made it possible.
Every good gift comes from God.
Money Cannot Buy Everything
One lesson I have learned is that money cannot buy peace.
Money cannot buy joy.
Money cannot buy genuine love.
Money cannot buy salvation.
Money cannot buy purpose.
Money is useful.
But it has limits.
Some of the greatest blessings in my life cannot be purchased.
My relationship with God.
My family.
The peace He gives me.
The wisdom He provides.
The purpose He has placed in my life.
Those are treasures that money can never replace.
Be Careful Not to Chase Money More Than God
One thing I never want is to spend my life chasing money while neglecting my relationship with God.
There is nothing wrong with working hard.
There is nothing wrong with building a business.
There is nothing wrong with saving and planning for the future.
But if those things begin replacing God, then something is out of balance.
Jesus reminds us to seek Him first.
Everything else should follow after that.
๐ Matthew 6:33 (KJV)
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
That verse keeps me grounded.
It reminds me to keep my priorities in the right order.
My Website Taught Me Something Too
One thing God has been teaching me while building Encouraged by Faith is patience.
There have been moments when I wanted everything to happen quickly.
I wanted more visitors.
More sales.
More growth.
More opportunities.
But God reminded me that every season has a purpose.
He has taught me to appreciate every reader.
Every comment.
Every prayer request.
Every small step forward.
Because those small blessings remind me that He is still working.
This website is not just about making money.
It is about encouraging people and pointing them back to Christ.
If I keep that as my focus, I know God will continue opening the right doors in His timing.
Final Thought: God Is Worth More Than Money
If there is one thing I hope you take away from this, it is this:
Money is a blessing.
But God is the source of every blessing.
I still have financial goals.
I still pray for opportunities.
I still believe God has greater things ahead.
But I no longer want money to become my focus.
I want God to remain my focus.
Because I have learned that when I put Him first, everything else falls into place.
Money will come.
Money will go.
Opportunities will come.
Opportunities will go.
But God’s faithfulness never changes.
And knowing that gives me more peace than any amount of money ever could.
