Meta Description:

Are you carrying emotional pain, stress, fear, or burdens God told you to release? Learn how to let go, trust God fully, and walk in peace instead of pressure.

Some Things Were Never Meant for You to Carry Forever

There was a time in my life when I carried everything.

I carried:

  • Stress
  • Worry
  • Hurt
  • Frustration
  • Fear
  • Disappointment

And I thought I had to hold onto it all because if I didn’t…

Everything would fall apart.

So instead of releasing things to God…

I kept carrying them myself.

Even when I was tired.
Even when I was overwhelmed.
Even when it was affecting my peace.

And after a while, I started realizing something:

👉 The weight I was carrying was becoming too heavy.

Not because God wasn’t able to handle it…

But because I wasn’t giving it to Him completely.

Sometimes We Pray — But Still Hold On

This is something many people struggle with.

We say:

  • “God, I give it to You.”
  • “Lord, I trust You.”

But right after praying…

👉 We pick the burden right back up.

We continue:

  • Overthinking
  • Worrying
  • Stressing
  • Trying to control everything

And God is saying:

👉 “If you gave it to Me, why are you still carrying it?”

Why Is It So Hard to Let Things Go?

A lot of people struggle with releasing things because they are used to handling everything themselves.

You become so used to:

  • Fixing problems
  • Carrying pressure
  • Holding everything together

That letting go almost feels uncomfortable.

Sometimes people hold onto things because:

  • They fear the unknown
  • They want control
  • They don’t fully trust the outcome
  • They think worrying will somehow help

But worrying has never solved anything.

It only drains you.

What Are People Carrying That God Told Them to Release?

People carry many things silently.

Some are carrying:

  • Past hurt
  • Guilt
  • Fear
  • Broken relationships
  • Anxiety
  • Anger
  • Stress about the future

And the dangerous part is this:

👉 You can carry things so long that they start to feel normal.

But just because it became normal…

Does not mean it’s healthy.

What the Bible Says About Releasing Burdens

📖 1 Peter 5:7 (KJV)

“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”

That scripture is powerful.

Because God didn’t say:
👉 Carry some of it.

He said:
👉 Cast ALL your care on Him.

That means:

  • Your stress
  • Your fear
  • Your frustration
  • Your pain

All of it.

📖 Matthew 11:28 (KJV)

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

God already knew life would feel heavy sometimes.

That’s why He offers rest.

Not more pressure.

Holding Onto Everything Will Wear You Out

After a while, carrying too much starts affecting you mentally and spiritually.

You become:

  • Drained
  • Irritated
  • Overwhelmed
  • Emotionally tired

And sometimes you don’t even realize the reason you feel exhausted…

Is because you are carrying things God never told you to hold onto.

God Never Asked You to Control Everything

This was something I had to learn myself.

I thought:

  • If I worry enough, maybe things will change
  • If I think about it long enough, maybe I’ll fix it
  • If I keep carrying it, maybe it’ll get better

But all I was doing was stressing myself out.

Because some things:
👉 Only God can fix.

How Do You Know God Is Telling You to Release Something?

There are signs.

Sometimes God is showing you:

  • You’ve done all you can do
  • You’re mentally exhausted
  • You’re becoming consumed by it
  • It’s stealing your peace

And instead of resting in Him…

You keep holding onto it.

You Cannot Move Forward While Holding Onto Everything

This is important.

Some people are asking God for:

  • Growth
  • Healing
  • Peace
  • Open doors

But their hands are so full of old burdens…

👉 They can’t receive what God is trying to give them.

Sometimes God is waiting for you to release:

  • The hurt
  • The fear
  • The control
  • The past

Before He moves you forward.

How to Stop Carrying What God Told You to Release

Let’s make this practical.

Because this is where change begins.

1. Admit That the Weight Is Too Heavy

The first step is admitting:
👉 “I can’t carry this by myself anymore.”

And that’s not a weakness.

That’s wisdom.

2. Pray Honestly to God

Don’t just pray routine prayers.

Tell God exactly how you feel.

Say:

  • “Lord, I’m overwhelmed.”
  • “I’m tired of carrying this.”
  • “Help me release it.”

God already knows.

He just wants you to come to Him honestly.

3. Stop Trying to Control the Outcome

This is where many people struggle.

You want to know:

  • How will everything work out
  • When will things change
  • What’s going to happen next

But trust requires surrender.

And surrender means:
👉 You stop trying to control everything.

4. Replace Worry With Trust

Every time worry comes…

Replace it with prayer.

Instead of:
👉 “What if things go wrong?”

Start saying:
👉 “God is in control.”

5. Stop Picking the Burden Back Up

This is important.

Some people release things to God temporarily…

Then pick them back up the next day.

If you gave it to God:
👉 Leave it there.

What Happens When You Finally Release It

When you finally stop carrying what God told you to release:

  • Your mind becomes lighter
  • Your peace returns
  • Your faith grows
  • Your stress decreases

And you start realizing something powerful:

👉 God was always able to handle it.

Peace Comes When You Trust God Fully

📖 Isaiah 26:3 (KJV)

“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee…”

Peace does not come from:

  • Having all the answers
  • Controlling everything
  • Fixing every situation

Peace comes from:
👉 Trusting God.

Sometimes Releasing Means Letting Go Emotionally Too

This is something people overlook.

You may physically move on from something…

But emotionally still carry it.

You may still carry:

  • Anger
  • Hurt
  • Resentment
  • Disappointment

And God wants you free from that too.

Because emotional burdens become spiritual weight.

You Were Never Designed to Carry Everything Alone

God never intended for you to walk through life:

  • Stressed all the time
  • Mentally exhausted
  • Carrying every burden alone

That’s why He says:
👉 Bring it to Him.

What I Learned About Releasing Things to God

I learned that holding onto everything:
👉 Does not make me stronger.

It only makes me tired.

And once I truly started giving things to God…

I felt peace differently.

Not because every problem disappeared immediately…

But because I knew:
👉 I wasn’t carrying it alone anymore.

Final Thought: Let It Go and Let God Handle It

So if you’ve been carrying:

  • Stress
  • Fear
  • Hurt
  • Worry
  • Emotional pain

This is your reminder:

You don’t have to hold onto it forever.

God is saying:
👉 “Give it to Me.”

Stop carrying what He already told you to release.

Because the longer you hold onto unnecessary weight…

The harder it becomes to walk forward.

Release it.

Trust Him.

And allow yourself to finally experience peace.

Reflection Questions

  • What burden have I been carrying too long?
  • Why is it hard for me to release control?
  • Am I truly trusting God, or just worrying constantly?
  • What would change if I fully surrendered this situation to Him?

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for reminding me that I do not have to carry every burden alone. Help me to release every worry, fear, hurt, and frustration that has been weighing me down. Teach me to trust You completely and stop trying to control everything myself.

Give me peace in knowing that You are already working things out, even when I cannot see it. Help me to surrender fully and walk in the freedom and rest that only You can give.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

1 thought on “Stop Carrying What God Told You to Release (You Were Never Meant to Hold It Forever)”

  1. I had to stop carrying things God already told me you release. Some weights were only meant for a season, not for me to hold onto forever. I realized I can’t move forward while gripping things He asked me to let go of. So I’ve learned to trust Him enough to release what was never to carry for a lifetime.
